The territory of Casale di Scodosia lies in a strip of plain between the course of the Adige and the Euganean Hills, an area with a long history of intensive farming. The network of canals and farm roads crossing the municipality reflects the agrarian organisation that developed over the centuries in this part of the Veneto.
The fine furniture tradition
From the early twentieth century onward, a craft tradition developed in Casale di Scodosia around the production of period-style furniture, carefully reproducing the forms of different historical eras. Over time the activity evolved from artisan workshop to small and medium-sized enterprise, while retaining a strong link to locally handed-down working techniques.
An economy still tied to the land
Alongside the furniture sector, agriculture remains a central element of the local economy. Fields planted with maize, soy, wheat and forage crops occupy much of the territory, in continuity with the productive vocation of the Bassa Padovana.
